Myrtle Beach International Airport (IATA: MYR) is owned by the county and is open to the public. It is three nautical miles (6 km) southwest of Myrtle Beach's central business district in Horry County, South Carolina, USA.

Once known as Myrtle Beach Jetport, this airport has since been renamed Myrtle Beach Airport. It is on the grounds of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, which is now home to the famous Market Common shopping center.

According to the FAA's 2017–2021 National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems, it is a critical commercial service facility serving as a hub for smaller airports.

History of Myrtle Beach International Airport

After the federal government donated the land for the airport in 1948 under the Surplus Property Act, it had previously served as an army facility. Horry County Jetport near Crescent Beach received this funding between 1958 and 1976 before relocating to the base's northeastern section per a shared-use agreement with the military. Myrtle Beach Airport was incorporated into the city of Myrtle Beach in 1977.

Civilian operations were restricted to 30 landings per day because MYR and Myrtle Beach AFB shared the main runway until 1993. At that point, a local corporate initiative began constructing a brand-new airport.

In the 1980s, Delta and Eastern commuter planes used the facility in addition to Piedmont Airlines mainline planes. The base was closed by the Air Force in 1993 as a result of BRAC 1991.
